Carly Sullens is a photographic artist and educator who helps photographers see beyond traditional photography and explore what the medium can become. Through abstraction, ICM, experimentation, and digital artistry, she teaches photographers how to stretch the medium while developing a more personal creative direction.

  Why do some images hold our attention while others don’t? Fine Art Foundations connects photography with art history and the visual principles artists have used for centuries. Through examples from artists such as Rembrandt, Monet, Van Gogh, and Wyeth, photographers explore composition, lighting, color harmony, storytelling, and form, and learn practical ways to bring those ideas into their own work.

• Beyond Sharp and Still: Creative Approaches to Photography
  What if blur, distortion, or an ordinary object were the point, not the problem? Beyond Sharp and Still introduces photographers to creative and experimental ways of working with the camera, including intentional camera movement (ICM), abstraction, layering, and reflections. Photographers will also explore how simple, everyday materials can become the starting point for unexpected, extraordinary images.

• The Creative Edit: From Subtle to Transformative
  The Creative Edit looks at how far an image can be taken after capture, from subtle refinements to full creative transformation. Photographers will explore how one editing choice can suggest the next, while leaving room for the image to become something unexpected. In this class, photographers will explore a range of approaches, from subtle adjustments to painterly editing, compositing, and more transformative techniques.

• Aligned: A Brand Built Around Your Photography
  Photographers’ work evolves, but their websites, social media, and branding do not always evolve with it. Aligned helps photographers recognize what still fits, what no longer does, and how to realign their visual identity, platform, and business direction with the photography they are making now.
